We are currently seeking qualified, professional and vibrant instructors for the 2010-2011 season. Instructors proficient in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, creative movement, voice, and theater are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be interested in teaching students of many ages and levels. Our mission is to support our students in achieving their dance or performing goals while offering small class sizes and a nurturing environment.

Our students range from beginning dancers to pre-professional actors. Regardless of his or her aspirations, every student should walk out of a class at The Performing Arts Connection feeling energized, inspired, and challenged. A variety of part time positions are available, mostly afternoon and evening hours. Up to 20 hours available for the right candidate. Compensation commences with experience. Front of House Manager
The Performing Arts Connection & Metrowest Family Theater

The Front of House Manager is responsible for the operation of the lobby, auditorium, and other public areas during our performances (typically held in Sudbury, Maynard, or Framingham).

Major responsibilities/duties include:

  • Coordinate and ensure the smooth operation of the Front of House
  • Coordinate volunteer staff (merchandise sales, assistants, door sales, advanced sales, ushers, premium ushers, etc.) in ample time including scheduling, training, and delegation of duties
  • Coordinate activities (start of show, intermission close up, etc.) with Stage Manager and Director
  • Coordinate the use of lobby for receptions including set up, decoration, food preparation, and clean up
  • Ensure adequate advertising through brochures, posters, etc. for upcoming events
  • Ensure adequate signage for all elements of front of house, including parking signs
  • Create and maintain a volunteer procedure manual
  • Collect and count money after each performance keeping adequate records for each station
  • Ensure a volunteer is in place (if you not yourself) at the stage door to seat and ticket late arrivals as well as hold them until appropriate seating time throughout the entire show
  • Maintain adequate inventory records for all merchandise

Requirements:

  • First AID training / CPR (preferred, not required)
  • Experience with volunteers and practical knowledge of theater environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, even temperament, ability to supervise effectively
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environment with many disruptions
  • Maintain a professional image
  • Efficient organization to accomplish many facets of FOH
  • Ethical considerations in all duties
Costume Design/Coordinator - Youth Musicals
The Performing Arts Connection

Seeking an innovative, creative, and energetic costume designer/coordinator to outfit our two annual youth musicals as well as be an advocate during our summer children's theater workshops. Up to 30 costumes per show, plus accessories, that will need to be reusable for future shows.

Intern Program

The Intern Program at The Performing Arts Connection is a valuable opportunity for students to share their experience and learn responsibility. Open to current students ages nine and older, the Intern Program requires submitting an application and attending an interview with the director. Students age 9 interested in the program must have worked with our studio for at least 3 years, ages 10-11 must have a minimum of 2 years with the studio, and ages 12-14 a minimum of one year at the studio. Cost for the program is $5/hour for any workshop or class over 2 hours (no cost for 2 hours or less). Fifteen year-olds will be paid a stipend of $5/hour. Contact Samantha at FOBma@aol.com.
